Sending Us a Sample
Options for the delivering of samples:
- You are more than welcome to visit the laboratories to drop off your samples in person.
- You can send your samples from PostNet to PostNet.
- You can use any courier service, but we recommend DSV and The Courier Guy for reliability purposes.
- Arrangements can be made in advance with NviroTek to collect your bulk samples.
- Arrangements can be made with Wynland to collect microbiological samples within a specific radius from Wellington.
01 Both facilities are available for dropping samples off. We encourage all clients to send samples to the preferred facility to eliminate any delays. However, NviroTek will ensure that your samples are delivered to the facility where the best expertise is housed.
The following samples must be sent to NviroTek Laboratories:
- Soil for comprehensive testing (including biology/nematodes)
- Lime
- Fertilizer
- Growth Media
- Compost
- Water
- Elements in the Environment
- Animal Feeds & Pastures
- Residues (MRL)
- Plant Material
The following samples must be sent to NviroTek Wynland:
- Microbiological Screening of Foodstuffs, Beverages and Feeds
- Hygiene Monitoring
- Plant Material
- Water
- Animal Feeds & Pastures
- Residues (MRL) - for intake and preparations

02 The following information is needed for the invoice and report:
- Name of Company / Individual
- Registration number of Company / Identity number of Individual / Owner
- Postal Address
- Contact Details (Telephone, email address, both for accounts and results)
- VAT number
03 Make sure you use the submission form specific to the type of sample that is submitted. Click on the button to access the different sample submission forms.
Sample Notes
- All samples must be clearly marked (do not write references on paper and place it inside bags that contain samples as it deteriorates).
- Samples to be accompanied by paperwork stating the required analysis and your contact details. We suggest that specific sample submission forms are used that is available from the laboratory.
- The label of the sample will appear on your report.
- The container used must be sealed properly to avoid contamination of other samples.
- Water, swabs and other fresh samples for bacterial analyses must be kept cool and reach the laboratories within 24 hours of sampling.
- Keep leaf samples out of the sun and send as soon as possible to avoid deterioration (tomato and potato leaves are prone to this).
- Keep sample mass on soils to be couriered, as low as possible, within the specific guidelines to ensure representativeness.
- Refer to sampling guidelines where available.
- Use the portal for pre-submission!
Courier Information
NviroTek has accounts with The Courier Guy and DSV and is recommend for reliability purposes.
We also suggest sending samples from PostNet to PostNet.
- Use economy services only, as express is very expensive and not subsidised.
- Deliver samples to the nearest courier depot.
- Please mark your parcels. For example if you send 4 parcels mark it as follows:
- 1 of 4
- 2 of 4
- 3 of 4
- 4 of 4 (now we know we have received all your samples). - For assistance, please contact the facilities to make arrangements.
